This town went through tremendous changes before the 20th century until World War II. The private small and middle farms turned into large-scale farms. The five times awarded Vörös Csillag Co-operative played a very important role in the development of this town until the turn of period. In the past few years, the exploration and production of oil and gas brought a big change. Thanks to the fruitful relationship between MOL ltd. the former NKFV, and the Municipality there has been significant investments and major infrastructural developments in the town. Tourism is also important in Füzesgyarmat since it has an excellent spa bath which is visited by about 60-70 thousand people. Right next to the spa bath there is the Hotel Gara, built in the eighties, a three star hotel which is one of the best hotels of the Eastern region. There is a therapeutic department of the hotel and a four-star camping under construction along with the rebuilding, enlargement and cover of the old medical pool.
